UPDATE – Twenty-eight-year-old David Donnell, Junior has been charged with one count of second degree murder and four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in the shooting death of Red Lake Tribal Police Officer Ryan Bialke.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota says five officers were doing a welfare check at Donnell’s home in Redby on Tuesday when they found him on the porch. Officers tried to have Donnell walk towards them, but he ran inside. Since he had a tribal warrant and refused to come out, officers broke down the door.

RED LAKE, Minn. Prosecutors have charged a man for allegedly shooting and killing Red Lake Tribal Police Officer Ryan Bialke.
David Brian Donnell, Jr., 28, of Redby is charged with one count of second-degree murder and four counts of assault, according to court documents.
According to a complaint, Officer Bialke and four other Red Lake Tribal Police Department officers were doing a welfare check on Donnell, who had an active warrant.
Officials say Donnell was on the front porch of his home in Redby, when officers arrived, but Donnell ran inside the home and refused to come out.

Red Lake, MN (KROC-AM News) - The northern Minnesota law officer who was killed in the line of duty early Tuesday has been identified.
Red Lake Director of Public Safety Michael Burns says Red Lake Officer Ryan Bialke died from gunshot wounds he suffered while responding to a call about a suicidal man in a residence with children possibly present. He says the suspect opened fire when Red Lake officers arrived at the scene and Officer Bialke was shot.
He was rushed to the Indian Health Service Hospital where he died from his injuries. A news release says Officer Bialke was a six-year veteran of the Red Lake Police Department and is survived by his wife and four children.
