The Manahawkin man behind the wheel of a car that put two teenagers in the hospital with critical injuries was arrested Monday and now faces charges of Aggravated Assault and Assault by Auto in addition to Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain his lane, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced. It all stems from a car accident that occurred on Saturday night around 9:45 near Radio Road and Baltusrol Court in Little Egg Harbor. The investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Little Egg Harbor Police revealed that Michael Pillarella, 26, was traveling northbound on Radio Road when he didn t drive properly through a curve in the roadway and then crossed over the centerline where he struck an oncoming 2006 Toyota XB traveling southbound.

A Manahawkin man is charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain his lane stemming from an accident that occurred near Radio Road and Baltusrol Court in Little Egg Harbor Saturday evening, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced on Sunday. Little Egg Harbor Police responded around 9:45 pm to a report of a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries. Michael Pillarella, 26, of Manahawkin, was heading northbound in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra on Radio Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossed over the centerline, and struck an oncoming 2006 Toyota XB traveling southbound on Radio Road, according to a joint investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Little Egg Harbor Police Department.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit, Stafford Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit revealed that a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by Lowe was traveling eastbound on Stafford Avenue at an extremely high rate of speed. Lowe lost control of the vehicle as he was attempting to navigate a right-hand turn, and consequently crashed into a tree. A passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, Robert Parlin, 24, of Little Egg Harbor, succumbed to his injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
