The government is in the process of finalising a series of travel corridors and an announcement is due in the coming days. Most of western europe is expected to be on an initial list of countries which will be exempt, including france, italy, spain, greece, belgium, germany, norway and the netherlands. Sweden is unlikely to be on the list because the infection rate there is higher than in the uk. And there are doubts about portugal after a rise in the number of new cases in and around lisbon.
