The Gaston Gazette
A class created by a Gaston College instructor recently received a significant certification in virtual and digital quality assurance.
Karen Duncan’s professional development course was certified by Quality Matters – a global organization leading quality assurance in online, digital and blended education environments, according to Gaston College.
“[The certification] tells the college it has a quality online course. The course design is done with the student in mind,” said Duncan, an information technology specialist who began teaching professional development when Gaston College hired her in 1999.
She’s responsible for integrating technology across all programs at Gaston College and recommends new instructional systems – which includes accommodating remote learning needs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic – while also teaching Office Systems Technology classes.
