The coming of the New Year means a fresh start for everyone, even streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.
Every New Year, licenses on films and TV series go up for renewal or trading among streaming services so that many students inevitably find themselves scrambling to fit in all the seasons of their favorite shows before they are taken off of Netflix.
This year, similar to 2019 when Netflix announced âFriendsâ was leaving their service for HBO Max, subscribers were hit hard with the loss of two other significant TV series: âThe Officeâ and âGossip Girl,  which are leaving for Peacock and HBO Max respectively.Â

All the way back in June 2019, Netflix announced that “The Office” would leave the service in 2021. Between then and now, there have certainly been moments when I wondered if I’d even make it to 2021. But here I am, waving goodbye as the show sails off to Peacock on Dec. 31.
“The Office” has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix for years. The series still regularly appears in the service’s daily public list of most popular shows on the service. Netflix recently ordered a second season of Steve Carell’s workplace comedy “Space Force,” but the new show is nowhere near as funny.
