The new ballot will be held later this summer, on August 19. The need for a second election comes after Tory winner Jonathon Seed was disqualified over a 30-year-old drink driving conviction. When news of this was made public on Sunday May 9, Mr Seed revealed that, if elected, he wouldn t be able to accept the post. A police investigation into how and why Mr Seed was able to stand as a candidate in the first place is currently underway. Today (May 12), Wiltshire Council s Chief Executive confirmed that a fresh election, expected to cost up to £1.4 million, will be held in three months time.
