PLANS to bring back home the remains of slain South African rugby player Lindani Myeni are underway.
The government of KZN led by Premier Sihle Zikalala is working with the family to repatriate his remains from Hawaii, US.
The 29-year-old man originally from Empangeni, northern KZN, was gunned down a week ago allegedly by police in the City of Honolulu.
On Wednesday, 21 April, a delegation from the premier’s office led by Director-General Dr Nonhlanhla Mkhize, visited Myeni’s family home.

Lindani Myeni, 29, a South African rugby player, who was living with his family in Hawaii was shot and killed during a confrontation with police there after he was spotted near a house at night and accused of attempting to steal a vehicle. According to body cam footage released by the Hawaii police, an officer initially attempted to tase him but he allegedly then lunged at another officer who fired a shot that killed him last week.

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has revealed that the government is working on a plan to repatriate the remains of former KZN rugby player Lindani Myeni.
Zikalala said plans to repatriate Myeniâs remains to South Africa were gaining momentum, following interactions between his office, the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (Dirco) and the Consul-General in the US.
The 29-year-old father of two was living in Hawaii with his wife, Lindsay, at the time of his death. Myeni was shot following an altercation with police in Honolulu last Wednesday. His death has sent shock-waves around the world, with many taking to social media to express their condolences to the Myeni family.
