The Macomb County Board of Commissioners took a rare action Wednesday when it approved the outgoing board chairmanâs proposal to suggest next year s new board establish more advisory committees.
The resolutionâs passage in an 8-2 vote by the Government Oversight Committee carries some political undertones as it was introduced by board Chairman Bob Smith, whoâs had a frosty relationship with County Executive Mark Hackel and led the board during its legal conflict with him over the board setting up its first such panel, the Older Adult Advisory Committee.
Commissioner Veronica Klinefelt, who was one of the two no votes, said at the meeting she âwholeheartedlyâ supports setting up more advisory panels but said the resolution âseems a little bit uncomfortable to me.â
