Going one step further we believe there is a need for an independent crime lab totally separated from the Police Department. This is not a new or novel idea. In 2009 a Blue Ribbon Committee of the National Academy of sciences recommended that all public forensic laboratories and facilities should be removed from the administrative control of Law Enforcement agencies or prosecutors offices.
