Now, last month, the police union and the mayor and the Police Commissioner agreed to a voluntary Pilot Program where Police Officers would wear body cameras. But the thing is no volunteers stepped up. So the commissioner made the program mandatory. And the police union sued, saying the city had to bar gain with them on this matter. Now that they are making it mandatory. But the Court Decision came down today. Again, denying the motion by the police union. Saying that the commissioner. The statute grants the commissioner power. The test Pilot Program will go forward. The court did say that still can be arbitrated and bargained. But that the test Pilot Program should not be stopped minutes ago, talking about this. One from the aclu of massachusetts. Called this a great victory. For police accountability. And a victory for civil rights. I cant say what did or didnt take place. Aaron news 13 requested video. About teds. They give us one of the best investigative tools with the complaint we have available. Aaron duncan says the body cams speed up investigation. Absolutely. For internal Affairs Investigation or any kind of complaint from the public, its invaluable to see what took place. Aaron officers are rarely at fault in Excessive Force complaints. Split second decision. Youre in a fight. A hit or two more and youre a few seconds away from being indicted. Dont realize what these Police Officers are facing day after day and what they deal with. Aaron duncan says body cameras are not a perfect tool. They dont always get the best angle. But in this case, hes happy he had the footage. The complaint was substantiated. And the officer was terminated. Aaron that year he received a reprimand for a code of conduct violation.
