The Office for Student Success, UK Human Resources and the College of Medicine have launched a well-being collaborative conversation. Together, they have joined forces under one goal to increase awareness of well-being resources and enhance efforts across the entire university that will support the mental health and wellness of students, faculty and staff.
Last month, the University of Kentucky Martin Luther King Center, in collaboration with the Office for Institutional Diversity and the Office for Student Success, hosted the 2023 Men of Color Symposium. Here, more than 100 men and women, ranging from UK students, faculty, staff and participants from other universities, gathered to embrace, acknowledge and support the holistic needs of men of color under this year’s theme of “Be Your Own Brand: Build It, Be It, Believe It.”
A landmark case in 1961, Dixon v. Alabama ended the culture of colleges and universities acting in loco parentis (in place of a parent) to discipline or expel students. Since then, the federal court decision has been cited as the beginning of the revolution for student rights.
The Office for Institutional Diversity and Community and Professional Development Programs, housed in the Office for Student Success, will host the 2023 Sister Circle Forum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 23, in the Gatton Student Center.
The University of Kentucky Office of LGBTQ Resources, a unit housed in the Office for Student Success, is now accepting applications for three student scholarships.
