regulations and by the appointments that they made, all confirmed by the senate, began to put new kinds of people at the sec, nrlb, food and drug administration and all of these agencies that can slow an economy by excessive regulation. we believe a combination of regulatory relief and comprehensive tax reform, particularly the business side of the tax reform, making american businesses more competitive, making it less likely that jobs will be off shored, is the way to get the economy going again. and you all heard and wrote all the predictions about how corporations would react to this. and early indications are, with at least 11 announcements so far, that employees are going to benefit from this wide array
so it s a secretive industry. it s an industry that doesn t like to reveal the number of fires or collisions or disabled incidences like that. they like to keep that information secret. it s all off-shored. it s all foreign owned. it s in foreign incorporated and foreign-registered ships that are flying flags of convenience that are issued by foreign countries that really don t care much about overseeing the u.s. cruising public. reporter: just take a look at three recent fires. 2010, the carnival splendor, registered in panama. the incident report done jointly by the panamanians and the u.s. coast guard. it s still not published. the carnival triumph, now famous for what became known as the poop cruise, is registered in the bahamas. and while the u.s. coast guard and the ntsb are involved in the investigation, the bahamas
10,000 to 30,000 people who have died. now what happens with these six nuclear reactors, we don t know how bad that will get. that would complicate things immensely. also for industry there f there are rolling blackouts, production will be slowed for a lot of manufacturing. auto production has been shuttered to a certain extent. japan is one of the biggest manufacturing power houses in the world this will effect their ability to produce goods. they have off-shored some of their manufacturing capacity to china. still, japan will slow materially in the next couple of months to a certain extent, it s like 9/11 and you get seize-up of economic activity that could last weeks or months. we don t know how long it will crimp an already weakened japanese economy. this economy has been in recession 50% of the time in the last 20 years since their big market economy imploded. we will keep watching this. great to see you.
