Uncontrollable tears, shock and, at some point, rage were the emotions that were expressed as the family, friends and other sympathisers came together yesterday to bid 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, who was gruesomely murdered by his friends for ritual purposes last Saturday.
Ishmael, a Class Four pupil of the Maranatha Preparatory and Junior High School, was killed on Holy Saturday by two teenagers, Nicholas Kini, 18, and Felix Nyarko, 16, at Coca Cola, near Lamptey Mills, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.
It was difficult for people to hold back their tears when the body of the lad, wrapped in black cloth and laid out on a stretcher, was brought to the family house for Muslim prayers before burial.
“It is only now that we’ve understood the gravity of their activities to the extent of taking a life in the name of giving money to the youth for that matter.
“My children have shown that there is too much fear around,” one of the irate residents was quoted as saying.
“The whole world has heard bad news about Amanase… We need to be angry,” the Assemblyman, Paul Som Abedi, added.
The Ofaakor District Magistrate Court remanded into police custody the two teenagers who allegedly killed the 10-year-old.
Felix Nyarko, 15, and Nicholas King, 18 on Saturday, April 3, reportedly lured and killed the 10-year-old.
The two teenagers who allegedly killed a 10-year-old boy at Coca Cola, near Lamptey, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region, had initially planned to kidnap him to demand a ransom of GH¢5,000, according to the prosecutor.
Putting the two teenagers before the Ofaakor District Magistrate Court Tuesday in their first appearance in court, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Ernest Agbo, said the accused - Felix Nyarko, aka Yaw Anane, 16, a mason labourer, who is the first accused, and Nicholas Kini Kwame, 18, a student and second accused, had planned to take the money and add Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, the deceased, to it to present to a spiritualist for rituals..
