richard took him on a chase through some county roads and down a dirt road. during this chase, the patrol car got stuck in the mud and richard wrecked his truck. it was kind of the joke of the town. but one tragic evening, the joke becomes serious. the lamance brothers were doing some of their patrol activities in the city of whitewright. they drove past the dusty saddle, and they saw this new white pickup there with the buyer s tag on it. they looked at it and said, well, i wonder whose that is. the lamance brothers assume the new truck belongs to richard hicks. and when they see it later that night swerving through traffic, their suspicions are all but confirmed. they initiated a traffic stop, or attempted to, and the vehicle took off. looked like a 2001 white pickup. i can t tell if it s a dodge or a ford. there s no tag on it.
