reporter: the lines for this food and water distribution site snake out of a shopping center for blocks and blocks with temperatures soaring, residents are trying to get supplies to those who need it most. helping the elderly and our friends with young people. so that s what we re here for. anybody that we can help. reporter: some residents are returning to the hardest-hit areas in southeast louisiana. floyd and jane rode the storm out here in the town of raceland. their supplies of food and water are quickly running out. it s horrible, especially with no lights and no water, it s bad. we can t even get no ice. we in trouble for the next couple of weeks. reporter: they re cleaning up the storm damage, but they say life after hurricane ida feels like being stranded on a deserted island. it s just hard. i didn t sleep at all last night. i didn t get no kind of sleep in two days.
