clean up is just beginning after a series of tornadoes pummeled towns in iowa thursday. part of the same weather system that sank the duck boat in missouri. the roof of the agriculture equipment company ripped off. 400 people were inside at the time. seven were taken to the hospital in the southeast part of iowa. a state of emergency declared in the city of marshalltown. a city of 27,000. in the distance, you can see the top of the courthouse building blown off by a twister. at least ten people were treated at the hospital. many customers without power this morning. let s see what is ahead for the country with meteorologist derek van dam. dave and christine, the same threat of storms moves to the south and east. the storm prediction center has indicated a moderate risk of
this was a flight to seattle. rob marciano is here with what is happening next, but first, abc s witt johnson. reporter: devastating storms touching down in iowa. homes ripped down about 13 miles outside des moines. there just went a house. reporter: watch closely. the violent wind toppling a clock tower. multiple sightings of a double funnel cloud. the city of marshalltown, declaring a state of emergency. more than a dozen reported twisters across the state. the national weather service reporting catastrophic damage. this house actually had its roof torn off. reporter: a parking lot at a manufacturing plant now a mess of twisted metal, blown out windows. vehicles flipped over or missing. trees and power lines down, widespread power outages impacting thousands. witnesses saying at least one tornado was on the ground for several minutes. we saw electricity flickering
