and david is terrified because he knows that god knows that he has not only committed adultery but that he s committed murder. he disregards public outrage, and forces her to marry him. it was not something that set well with lots of people, especially in the court of david because by marrying, it created a feud on the part of the other wives of david. if you go back and you read all these biblical stories, you ll see that all of these guys had lots of wives. and they all had lots of kids. ultimately, the significance of the story s that david s personal family, his house, right, is no longer going to have any peace in it. david s going to be engaged in war in his family relations. there s always going to be war. cookies and breyers. that s like getting two desserts!
