CLEVELAND, Ohio Donovan Peoples-Jones might be the biggest reason for optimism in the long-term viability of the Browns’ new front office and coaching staff.
Peoples-Jones was a sixth-round pick in April, the last choice by the Browns, a flyer on a player who checked all kinds of boxes from an athletic standpoint. His highly anticipated college career never quite took off at Michigan for various reasons, but the size, speed and athleticism were all there.
In a normal training camp and four preseason games, Peoples-Jones might have flashed and made a case to become a potential breakout rookie. Instead, the Browns turned to KhaDarel Hodge as their third wide receiver. JoJo Natson handled the return duties. Peoples-Jones was inactive for the season’s first three weeks.
