Montreal Canadiens Organizational Players of January

Montreal Canadiens Organizational Players of January Share this story NHL Player of the Month: Jeff Petry The Montreal Canadiens played eight games in the month of January, and Jeff Petry had points in six of them. With one-seventh of the season played he stands as a point-per-game player, one of six defencemen who can make that claim. His most impressive point was probably his first goal of the season, when he played the puck with his hand then skated around the back of the net to collect it and deposit it in the net. Petry has done all this while averaging over 20 minutes per night and playing with a new partner still adjusting to the Canadiens’ system. He also got through the eight games with zero penalty minutes on his record, all the more impressive when you consider how much difficulty the Canadiens have had with discipline.

Ex-St Thomas Academy standout Tufto leads nation in scoring at Quinnipiac

Copy shortlink: Odeen Tufto spent a good portion of his youth in 3M Arena at Mariucci, taking advantage of his family s season tickets to Gophers men s hockey games. He also attended Minnesota s model camps for three years and has quite the collection of maroon-and-gold hockey sweaters. Until I was 14, I was the biggest Gophers fan ever, he said. I have signed jerseys from Danny Irmen, Ryan Potulny, Gino Guyer. It was my dream to play for the U, but obviously dreams change. The change of dreams, it turns out, is working out well for Tufto, a senior forward at Quinnipiac whose 27 points and 23 assists lead Division I men s hockey. The senior captain is riding a 12-game point streak and has helped the Bobcats compile a 10-4-1 record and earn the No. 10 ranking in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll.
