Indigenous people who find themselves at the Cornwall courthouse might be disappointed by the lack of resources available to them, one lawyer suggested Wednesday.
Reach Canada, which is a network of lawyers and legal professionals based in Ottawa, held a virtual session discussing access to justice options for Indigenous clients. The first presenter, lawyer Keith Gordon, said there is a battle between Akwesasronon and members living off-reserve.

“The reality is the Akwesasne Mohawk community will only extend resources to those living on reserve,” said Gordon. “It’s really unfortunate, but that’s the situation we find ourselves in.”
