Updated: 9:23 PM EST Mar 4, 2021 An animal an Upstate shelter calls its largest dog was bid farewell Thursday and sent on its way to his forever home.Mack the 1,000-pound Jersey bull was the guest of honor at his own goodbye party at the Oconee County Humane Society.He came to the shelter as a neglected animal and is leaving a star, officials said.RELATED: Oconee County Animal Control finds home for its largest dog ever Shelter volunteers said from the time Mack arrived, he made it clear he was there for attention, and the staff quickly fell in love with what they called their oversized dog.Through a partnership with a group in South Hampton, New York, called Last Chance Animal Rescue, Mack will now get all the love he deserves. We drove out here to pick up some animals and it just felt like love at first sight, founder Whitney Knowlton said. And I feel like it s mutual. Oconee Blotter: Church tithes, shotgun and catalytic converter stolen
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:
MISSING TITHES: On Feb. 3, Deputy Kenji Dorsey met with a 64-year-old Bogart woman who reported she had written three checks to her church only to learn someone other than the church cashed the checks. The woman explained she had been watching church services online due to COVID-19 and that she sent her donations in checks that totaled $300, but the church treasurer reported not receiving the checks. However, someone did cash the checks.
SHOTGUN STOLEN: On Feb. 5, a 35-year-old Bogart woman reported someone entered the trunk of her car and stole a Mossberg shotgun with a pistol grip that she valued at $500.
