Beaverton man sentenced for shining laser at federal agent
Andrew Steven Faulkner pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on a federal officer.
A Beaverton resident was convicted and sentenced in federal court for shining a laser in the eye of a federal officer during protests in downtown Portland last summer.
Andrew Steven Faulkner, 25, was arrested for allegedly shining a high-powered green laser at a Federal Protective Service officer outside the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse early on the morning of July 5, 2020.
Erik Asphaug, acting U.S. attorney for the District of Oregon, announced that after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault on a federal officer earlier this year, Faulkner was sentenced Wednesday, June 9, to six months of home detention and three years of federal probation. He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.
