Delta NUJ condoles Okowa over father’s demise

NIGERIA Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council, Saturday commiserated with the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on the demise of his father, Sir Arthur Okorie Okowa.
The State Council of the Union, in a statement by its Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and the Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochei said it was time to show some love to the Governor while mourning with him.
The statement described the octogenarian as a thorough-bred professional teacher who was able to bring up successful children by inculcating sound moral values in them, especially the number one citizen of the state who happens to be his son.
Restructure Nigeria before 2023, Anglican Bishop tells FG

Anglican Bishop of the Oleh Diocese, Delta State, Rt. Rev John Aruakpor, yesterday, told the Federal Government to restructure Nigeria before the 2023 general election so as to put the country on the right track for accelerated development.
He emphasized that restructuring would lead to far-reaching solutions to the myriads of problems facing Nigeria “and no part of the country has anything to fear about it. The development and peaceful coexistence we hope for, will be more assured and guaranteed”.
Aruakpor spoke at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Oyode, Isoko North Local Government Area, during the third season of the seventh synod of the diocese with the theme: ‘Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness”.
Land dispute: 2 killed, houses razed as tension heightens in Delta communities

TENSION, yesterday, heightened in Emede and Igbide communities, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, as two persons were reportedly killed and several houses set ablaze over a protracted land dispute between the neighbouring communities.
The hostilities, which started on Tuesday, degenerated, yesterday, with hundreds of residents fleeing the areas to seek refuge in nearby towns.
Commenting on the development, President-General of Emede community, Dr Ben Okah-Avae, said: “Igbide people came to invade Emede, Tuesday. The land has been in dispute and the matter has been in court for many years.
