Franklin resident spending summer advocating for the environment

Franklin resident Jacklyn Norris felt a strong connection to nature as a young child and she is continuing to following her passion by advocating for the environment this summer.
Norris, a student at Bridgewater State University, is spending her summer interning for Ocean River Institute (ORI), a nonprofit providing expertise, services, resources, and information unavailable on a localized level to support efforts of environmental organizations.
She is serving as a team captain for the Natural Lawn Care for Healthy Soils Challenge, designed to urge people to restore the ecological functioning of grass lawns by not spreading fertilizer or harsh chemicals. She will also advocate for the Ocean Based Climate Solutions Bill and the Break Free from Plastic Pollution Bill and will inform people about both proposed bills at Boston GreenFest in August.
