UMATILLA A pedestrian was killed Friday night when he was struck by an SUV on County Road 42 in southeast Marion County. The crash happened less than 5 miles from the Marion-Lake County line. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an older model Chevy Blazer driven by a 46-year-old Umatilla man was westbound on CR 42. It s unknown if the pedestrian was in the road or the grassy median when he was struck near Southeast 253rd Court.

A 92-year-old woman was killed and her 98-year-old husband was injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on State Road 40 West just east of Interstate 75. Ocala Police Department officers said the woman, identified as Juanita Winfired Tyo, was from Ocala. She died at 1:39 p.m. at Ocala Regional Medical Center. The woman s husband is Augustus James Tyo, also from Ocala. He was the driver and was listed in stable condition at ORMC.
