AGAG’s ‘Obuasi Trade Show’ supports local businesses to thrive
Anglogold Ashanti Ghana (AGAG) is strengthening its innovative ‘Obuasi Trade Show (OTS)’ in order to build a resilient local economy, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, Senior Manager, Sustainability, has assured.
The OTS, a trade and exhibition fair aimed at creating opportunities for micro and small-scale enterprises to thrive and also market their products, is being executed under the company’s Social Management Plan.
It is part of moves to diversify the local economy of Obuasi, a mining community, to help create sustainable jobs and wealth for the citizenry.
Mr. Baidoo, addressing the 2020 edition of the programme at Wawase in the Obuasi-East District of the Ashanti Region, said AGAG was working with the National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI) to achieve the desired objectives.

The much anticipated 2020 Obuasi Trade Show has finally commenced in the mining town.
The programme which is sponsored by Anglogold Ashanti Ghana in collaboration with National Board for Small Scale Industries ( NBBSI) and ably supported by both the Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East District Assemblies is taking place at the AGA Club House, Wawase.
The 3rd edition of the Obuasi Trade show is under the theme: “Diversifying the economy of Obuasi through trade promotion”.
It is expected to bring together hundreds of traders from all backgrounds to showcase their goods and services in Obuasi. Others will be given the opportunity through virtual trading, to promote their businesses.

Annual Obuasi Trade Show set to begin on December 21, 2020
Anglogold Ashanti, Obuasi together with the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) and in partnership with the Obuasi Municipal Assembly and the Obuasi East District Assembly will be organizing the third edition of the Obuasi Trade Show this month.
The trade show which has been dubbed “Donkomi mo ndi me dwa” forms part of plans by the mining giant and its stakeholders to diversify the economy of Obuasi to help end the perennial overdependence on the mine.
The first edition was held in February 2019.
This year’s programme is under the general theme: “Diversifying the economy of Obuasi through trade promotion.”
