Olusegun Samuel in Yenagoa
Five buildings and other property in Obogoro Town in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been washed away into the Ikoli River following a landslide arising from Coastal Erosion.
The incident, which took place last Saturday night to Sunday, displaced several persons as scores of residents were seen fleeing from the ravaging natural disaster.
The residents are appealing to the state and federal governments to urgently come to their rescue and tackle the menace.
A frontline activist in the Save Obogoro Campaign, Ada Gwegwe, said the erosion is threatening the town as residents had continue to pack their valuable and abandoned their homes, “no thanks to the ravaging coastal erosion in the area.”
