Ai Yori Aoshi: Volumes 1-3 Collection Manga Review

Adaptation: Jamie S. Rich What They Say Just as Kaoru Hanabishi resigns himself to going through his college years alone, he runs into the childhood sweetheart he hasn’t seen since leaving home. Her name is Aoi Sakuraba… and she has come to be his wife! The Review: Contents (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers): Ever since I saw a trailer for Ai Yori Aoshi’s anime adaptation on a Geneon DVD a couple of years ago, I’ve been meaning to give the series a spin in one form or another.  I think what’s kept me from being motivated enough to check it out before was the series had gained a bad rep among American readers/viewers that scared me away from even renting it.  Still, for whatever reason, the bad rep wasn’t enough to completely quash my curiosity about the series and so when I had the chance to review a copy of Tokyopop’s recent omnibus compilation of the manga’s first three volumes, I took it.
