company, he would have been removed a long time ago. that is really true. had if he was running a company, he would be i mean, the board would meet. shareholders would be revolting and this person would be out. i mean, there comes a time when it s just, it s not even funny. i mean, you know, there are times it s easy to dismiss and suggest it s crazy. it s disturbing. this is the president of the united states. for the first time, anderson, i had the thought today that donald trump may lose not because more people turn out to be democrats and republicans. he may lose because the country is just exhausted of this non-sense. i find myself really exhausted of it just as a citizen, not as a columnist, a news person, you can t find a quiet comfortable moment with this guy.
and that s not to give the europeans a pass on every single thing but they are our wing man in the world. and world that is not built around the kind of alliances we had before, baby, you will miss it when it s gone. do you think is there any chance of republicans, anthony scaramucci says these republicans will come forward. you ve seen no sign of republicans leaving congress, not going to run again. you know, under obama republicans were screaming about the deficit, about deficit, the whole tea party was about deficits. no one seems to care about that at all and the deficits have exploded and certainly this president doesn t care about that. you know, look, the party is clearly a culltive personality. what is more conservative than to say running up a debt this
ahead wayne lapierre. but the president has certainly had several conversations with people over the nra. it does sound like as we saw in the past after the mass shooting in parkland, the president has changed his views based on those conversations. and, anderson, he really isn t flip-flopping on this issue. he s shape shifting. it s difficult to pin him down. he just doesn t want to get pinned down on this issue and it s because he knows 90% of the country wants universal background checks and inside of his base, you can almost flip that number upside down in terms of where things stand. i talked to a source close to the white house earlier this evening said the president is not just hearing from the nra, he s hearing from republicans on capitol hill. yesterday, when he was sitting down and he talked about it in exactly those terms, saying, remember, the people who got me here feel very strongly about this. and then he said i do too and
millions and millions of them out there. that s basically confiscation. you re telling anybody who has one, they re going to have to give it up. which is the greatest concern/fear. these are weapons of war that never should have been on our streets in the first place. i can guarantee you that the framers of the constitution never would have imagined a weapon like the ar-15 being in the hands of an american citizen. they never would have imagined somebody going into the a school doesn t this play into the narrative of democrats want to take away your guns. if we want to talk about this issue in reality, we re going to be honest about it. we re not going to dance around the issue. march for our lives is not a group of democrats or republicans. we re a group of americans who believe in peace. and even though that may be a nonstarter for some people, that s okay. this plan talks about many other things as well. if this plan ends up in congress and they say a gun registry is a
amendment right by stripping away the anonymity that allows people to spew hatred and threats against others. i know you know firsthand can you go on tv and make comments with your face blacked out with no maim on it? it happens on what s my line. mike allen here with the morning playbook. mike, what you got going today? good morning, mika. first things first. for joe roll tide, number one in ap seventh year in a row. thank you for the updates. mike gives me great e-mail updates through the weekend. i greatly appreciate it. what a game. politico has a piece up entitled the obama republicans. who are they. what are they? so, mika, this is the first time i have had something hopeful to tell you from washington in i don t know how long. one of the big problems with getting anything done on capitol hill is that there s no swing
