The 28-year-old woman who was recently arrested for inflicting multiple machete wounds on her husband during a confrontation at Nkumkwaa, a village near Agona Duotu in the Central Region says she did that to defend herself.
According to Mary Quaye, a nursing mother, she did not intend to inflict the machete wounds on her husband Abraham Acquah but she did it in retaliation after he hit her with wood in the course of a misunderstanding.
Mary had returned to the village in the Agona East District from Accra, and according to her, the husband, Abraham told her that he wanted a split.

Wife arrested for inflicting cutlass wounds on husband

Mary Quaye, popularly known as Obaa Yaa, is in the grips of the Central Region Police, for inflicting cutlass wounds on her husband.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong, the Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, in Cape Coast, said the suspect was currently detained and assisting the police in investigation.
She said the Agona Dunkwa Police received a report that Abraham Acquah, husband of the suspect, had an altercation with her and later hit her with wood.
DSP Oppong said the wife reacted by attacking her husband with a cutlass, inflicting wounds on his neck and other parts of the body and was taken to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.

A 30-year-old man from Agona Duakwa in the Central Region is responding to treatment after his wife inflicted multiple machete wounds on his neck during an altercation.
Abraham Acquah and his wife, Mary Quaye also known as Obaa Yaa reportedly engaged in a fight on Monday dawn, April 26, 2021 during which Mary reportedly picked a cutlass and attempted to cut off the head of her husband in what she told police was self defence.
The incident has left Acquah with multiple deep cuts on his left jaw, neck and shoulder and responding to treatment at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital, reports Graphic Online’s Shirley Asiedu Addo and Gilbert Mawuli Agbey.

A joint operation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (MDC) has led to the arrest of 11 people suspected to be involved in the harvesting of babies and human trafficking in some health facilities in the Greater Accra Region.
Those arrested comprise two medical doctors, four nurses, two mothers, two social welfare officers and a traditional birth attendant.
The operation also led to the rescue of two baby boys who are four months old and less than a month old who were offered for sale at GH¢30,000 and GH¢28,000 each to undercover investigators.
