Residents of Ibarapa area of Oyo State have lost sleep despite the arrest of Iskilu Wakili, said to be a dreaded warlord terrorising the area. Dwellers in Ibarapaland have been suffering attacks at the hands of killer herders who destroyed their farmlands with cattle, raped, killed and kidnapped many for ransom. Farmers are said to be the worst hit as those in communities such as Ayete, Igangan, Idere, Igboora, Tapa, Lanlate and Eruwa have harrowing tales to tell.
The development led a Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho to issue a seven-day notice to quit to Fulani herders in the area. Upon the expiration of the order, he went to Igangan. After he left, a mob reportedly torched the settlement of the Seriki Fulani of Igangan, Salihu Abdulkadir, accused by villagers of aiding several herders’ atrocities in the area.

A group, under the aegis of Apapo Oodua Koya, yesterday, advised governors of Ogun, Oyo and Ondo states to put measures in place to stop terrorists allegedly planning to kidnap school children in their states.
But the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, said enough measures have been put in place to curb the excesses of criminals in the states.
This came on a day coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, in Oyo State, Mr. Rotimi Olumo, yesterday, faulted former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode’s claim that the kidnap kingpin, Abdullah Iskilu-Wakili, being interrogated by the police, was not the most dreaded Wakili terrorising Igangan and its environs noting that Fani-Kayode’s claim on Wakili was untrue and misinformation taken too far

CHAIRMAN of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, GAFDAN, in Oyo State, Alhaji Yusuf Gizori, and the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, were, yesterday, locked in a war of words over the alleged attack on Fulani leader, Iskilu Wakili, at Ayete, in Oyo State.
The verbal war came as the Asawo of Ayete, in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo State, Oba Emmanuel Okeniyi, also, yesterday, insisted that Wakili was involved in the destruction of farmlands in his domain, which ruined business for most farmers in the area.

THE Deputy Chairman of Oyo State Council of Obas, Oba Francis Alao, who is also the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, said peace had returned to Kajola and other villages taken over by a Fulani man, Iskiku Wakil.
The Asawo of Ayete, Oba Emmanuel Okeniyi, and farmers in the villages had earlier raised the alarm that Wakil and his armed kinsmen pursued farmers out of the villages and destroyed their cocoa and cashew trees.
Olugbo said in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday that the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Oyo State in charge of operations called and told him that peace had been restored to the place.

There is no respite for farmers and residents in Ayete, a town in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State, as they live in fear of Iskilu Wakili, a notorious Fulani warlord who kills and maims with daring effrontery and crude savagery.
The farmers thought the eviction of the Seriki Fulani, Abdulkadri Saliu, from Igangan also in Ibarapaland, was the end to Fulani herdsmen oppression but Wakili only waxed stronger as he mounted no cross-zone on farms with the eviction of Saliu in a bid to send warnings to the people of the town that he cannot be evicted. Wakili has also allegedly shot farmers who trespassed the no cross-zone.
