Maymah(NEW YORK) Maymah, a weightlifter and social media influencer who just goes by her first name, was part of Gymshark’s sports hijab launch in London.
When asked about what it’s like working out or weightlifting with a regular hijab, she says, “If I was doing something like running or skipping when there s a lot of head movement, it could be quite annoying and it distracts you from your actual workout.”
So when her manager told her about Gymshark’s sports hijab, she immediately agreed to join their campaign.
The sports hijab is a one piece adjustable head scarf designed to stay in place, so that hijabis don’t have to wear a cap underneath their scarf and use pins.
Gymshark isn’t the first company to design a sports hijab. Ibtihaj Muhammad made history in 2016 as the first U.S. Olympic athlete to compete in a hijab made by Nike.
She says, “it was an opportunity, I think, to show Muslim women around the globe that there is no limits to what we re capable o

On Thursday, the Llano County Commissioners Court discussed whether to "continue or cease operations" of the library system after previously removed books discussing race, health, gender and sexuality were returned to shelves under a court order.
The county commissioners voted to remove the library’s possible closure from the agenda and said that the libraries will remain open during the course of the lawsuit, ABC affiliate KVUE reported.
The debate seemingly began in July 2021, when a community group began pushing for the removal of children s books that they deemed "inappropriate," according to court documents.
These books included two children series, dubbed the "Butt and Fart books" in the court order. The books "depict bodily functions in a humorous manner in cartoon format, because [
Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for Live NationThere has been a lot of bad Mötley Crüe news out there lately thanks to Mick Mars recent lawsuit, but this may make some fans happy. Bassist Nikki Sixx confirmed on Twitter that the rockers are actually working on some new music.
Sixx posted a photo of him, Tommy Lee and guitarist John 5 in the studio with the message, “another killer songwriting day.” He clarified the music they were working on was indeed for the Crüe.
“We are writing. The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band,” he tweeted. “We’re gonna go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor and see where it goes. We don’t have a definitive plan at this point. Just letting the songs guide us.”
The news is interesting, considering in response to Mars’ recent lawsuit Mötley’s manager, Allen Kovac, seemed to suggest that the only thing left for the band was touring. Mars has always insisted he d
Erik McGregor/LightRocket via Getty Images(NEW YORK) A judge overseeing Dominion Voting System s $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox News on Wednesday imposed a sanction against the network after it made "misrepresentations" to the court and potentially withheld evidence.
Dominion s lawsuit accuses Fox News of knowingly pushing false conspiracy theories that the voting machine company had somehow rigged the 2020 presidential election in Joe Biden s favor, so the network could retain viewers.
The judge said during a pretrial hearing on Wednesday that Fox News would have to pay for any last-minute additional depositions that Dominion would need to do before the case is set to head to trial on Monday. Dominion did not immediately make clear if any such depositions were needed.
"If there is a deposition that needs to be done, it will be done," Judge Eric Davis said. "Fox will do everything it needs to make the person available, and it will be at the cost
