Iowa City On Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, Dorothy Irene Dodi Pete Peters, loving daughter, sister and aunt of 16, passed away at the age of 87. Dorothy was born Aug. 24, 1933, outside of Morse, Iowa. After high school, she attended nursing training at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, where after graduating she worked on the surgical ward. After three years, she left Mercy and worked at the VA Hospital in Iowa City on the psychiatry ward. In 1972, Dorothy moved to Manhattan, N.Y., and continued her work doing what she loved, working in the psychiatry department and helping her patients. Reflecting on her move to New York she said, I intended to stay for two years and I forgot to come home. Dorothy retired in 1997 but remained in the city she loved before returning home in 2015.
