Parkland Communities seeking rezoning for 34-unit town home development in Oakhurst

Thirty four town homes could be coming to Oakhurst by June 2025. Parkland Communities has proposed to develop the properties at 614, 618 and 622 East Lake Drive and are seeking to rezone the property to multifamily residential and medium density. 

Decatur City commission makes open container ordinance permanent

The Decatur City Commission, at its Dec. 20 meeting, amended the city's off-premise alcoholic beverage ordinance permanent. The ordinance, often called the open container ordinance, permits off-premise consumption of alcoholic beverages in specified restaurant districts.

As schools and libraries shut down and adjusted access this year in response to the pandemic, one new Norman organization has been able to expand local literacy for Normanites young and old. Lisa Gerard, a Norman resident of four years and a former teacher, officially incorporated an organization called Little Read Wagon this year, responding to a community need she saw for more local access to books.
