Posted at “A Tribute to Alvin Weinberg,” including information on the new online database of his scientific publications and other documents, will be presented virtually to the public from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 20 (Weinberg’s birth anniversary). The presentation, via Zoom, is sponsored by the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge and Friends of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. “The purpose of this public online event is to honor Alvin Weinberg’s legacy and to celebrate the preservation and digitization of his papers,” said Rhonda Bogard, who led the digitization of the papers, most of which were initially donated to the Children’s Museum in 1986.

Retiring VP of Research to give the graduate Commencement address
ESPN reporter and UGA alumna Maria Taylor will deliver the University of Georgia spring undergraduate Commencement address. Her live remarks on May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Sanford Stadium will be recorded and shared with graduates at the May 14 and May 15 ceremonies.
David Lee, Vice President for Research at the University of Georgia, will deliver the address at the graduate ceremony on May 14 at 10 a.m. in Sanford Stadium.
Since graduating from UGA in 2009 with a degree in broadcast news from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, Taylor has risen through the ranks of sports journalism and is now in her seventh season as an analyst, host and reporter for ESPN. She later returned to the university to pursue her Master of Business Administration, which she completed in May 2013.
Crick Named Mathematical Sciences Distinguished Alumnus Of The Year Thursday, December 17, 2020 - by Jamuna Gautam, Lee University
Dr. David Crick is the recipient of this year’s 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award for Lee University’s Department of Mathematical Sciences.
“The department is deeply impressed with Dr. Crick’s numerous successes in engineering and computer science related businesses,” said Dr. Blayne Carroll, chair of Lee’s Mathematical Sciences. “He has a commitment to excellence that we hope to foster in all of our students, and we are proud to call him an alumnus of our department.”
Dr. Crick graduated from Lee in 1983 and currently works as a senior architect at Rivet Logic Corporation in Virginia.
