the first day i was actually hired was like i m with the family again. dana: what about you? did you nor the bathroom was? greg: no, but i was shocked about how quickly they put me to work. i had done contributor stuff, but my first day at fox i had a meeting with john modi about the idea for a show which was called wasteland, which became red eye. i said i figured it would be three months. he said you are going to rehearse this week, the first show is monday. and i was like i ve never done this before. i went to the hotel and cleared the minibar. [laughter] i called my friends and one i don t know what i m doing here. what am i doing? they did the mark shows inside a little room, a green room. we were allowed to smoke in there. [laughter] everybody was smoking in there. it was insane. dana: that was 25 years ago, not quite 25. greg: 2007. jesse: iron member my first
day, my first lunch. it was at wendy s, which used to be right here in the basement. i remember. the wendy s spicy chicken sandwich with cheese most every day. harold: i remember my first day on the network in 97. i remember the show was the o reilly show. i was nervous, thought he would come after me with conservative stuff. we had a great conversation about race in a market. dana: and we are still talking about it and are glad you are here. this question is from instagram. if you could change assignments with someone at fox, who would you like to be ? jesse: abby hornacek. [laughter] go to beautiful locations all day! is not fair! how did she get that gig? what a junket. greg: i m trying to think of who does the least amount of work, but if i say that, that person is going to be mad at me. i m going to go with the dude in the flip-flops in florida. [laughter]
editor. jesse: it is a terrible paper. we had some run-ins with the bennington banner when i was working on the o reilly show. they would side against rape victims. they were giving soft sentences to child rapists. we confronted the editors, they wouldn t justify the editorials. it safe range far left paper. it doesn t surprise me that they would run such an offensive cartoon. i don t even buy, the justification. they thought it was cute and they ran it and they got called out survey apologized. greg: the drexel thing, i didn t mention his name on purpose. he has a history of doing these inflammatory things. i am assuming he has tenure. to dana: this cbs lawyer got fired. he probably got a raise, a bonus in academia. richard: that s the ideal of academia.
reilly stayed and mr. ailes had to leave. th similar allegations have been made of mr. o reilly but they stood by him. there is a question about advertisers. fox says don t worry about we are not running ads on mr. o reilly show. you cannot really have the 8:00 hour of the network. it is really key time where advertisers really wanted directly reaching the millions and millions of people that are watching. so the question is what would lead the murdock to get to mr.
