New Zealand Oil & Gas will announce on December 31 whether its Ironbark-1 drilling for gas off the coast of Western Australia has been successful. The drill “spudded” in November – the industry term for drilling commencing – with BP conducting the drilling, which had reached a depth of 5202m on December 22 in seas of just over 300m deep. Operations to plug and abandon the well were commencing, Jefferies said. ”While the operations are not over yet, I’d like to acknowledge the Operator BP for their safe and professional operations throughout the drilling of the well, as well as our JV partners and our shareholders for their continuing support,” he said.
