She talks of how 2020 started with the “discombobulating” impact of southern skies coloured by the Australian bushfires, and how this was just the start of “kaleidoscope” of changes throughout the year. Because she now chairs the board of one of Southland’s most crucial bodies, the Southern Institute of Technology, where once she was a business studies and English-as-second-language tutor, before becoming an empowering figure in southern education and community initiatives.
