World Malaria Day- Nagaland endeavours to eliminate malaria by 2030

DIMAPUR Health department across Nagaland observed ‘World Malaria Day’ on April 25 by organising awareness programmes on the theme “Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement.” The day is observed every year on April 25 with an objective to raise awareness of the global effort to control, prevent and eventually eradicate malaria. Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. It is a major public health problem that affects millions of people world-wide. Kohima: The principal director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vibeituouno M Sachu, informed that there is a sharp decline in malaria morbidity and mortality adding that there have been no malaria deaths since 2017. Church leaders in Longleng sensitised to eliminate malaria

DIMAPUR The office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Longleng, under the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), conducted a one-day awareness seminar for church leaders on malaria elimination in its conference hall on Wednesday. An update from CMO office stated that a brief introduction on malaria and its causes was delivered by Rongsentemsu, malaria inspector (NCVBDC), while the spokesperson and consultant, A Nyumoi Phom, made a powerpoint presentation on malaria elimination, ancient history of malaria, causes and its risk factors, preventive measures from Malaria Infections, testing of malaria and ‘do’s and dont’s.’ Describing malaria as a serious life threatening disease that accounted for millions of deaths yearly but preventable disease, Nyumoi stated that it could be totally eradicated if necessary precautionary measures are taken at the primary level with the help from churches, societies, students, etc. The seminar was attended by pastor
