After near-plea in murder case, Syracuse teen maintains his innocence

Manning was 17 years old in 2019 when he’s accused of opening fire on Merriman Avenue, killing Rhyan Williams, 21. His trial has been repeatedly delayed by the pandemic with jury trials shut down and he’s now due to stand trial in April, though a judge was skeptical Wednesday that date would be possible, either.
Manning appeared virtually Wednesday for a routine check-in with the judge. And he wanted to make something very clear: his near-plea meant nothing, and he maintains he’s been wrongly charged.
