The
LEN European Championships is the world’s oldest continental event for aquatic
sports. Europe is still the only continent where competitions exclusively for
aquatic sports are held every two years.
In
2021 the event returns to its place of inception because Budapest hosted the
championship on the first occasion between 18 and 22 August 1926.

The
objectives of the Visegrád Group are to strengthen the stability of the
Central European region, to jointly represent the economic, diplomatic and
political interests of the member states and to coordinate their measures. The
Visegrád Declaration, signed on 15 February 1991, asserted the solidarity
between the countries and then, in 2000, the International Visegrád Fund based
in Bratislava was established in order to foster cooperation between the
countries in the fields of culture, science, research, education and youth
exchange relations.

2021 is the commemorative year of the foundation of the
Premonstratensian Order. This Catholic canonical order was founded in 1121 in
Premontré near Laon in France by Saint Norbert, who in the last years of his
life was archbishop of Magdeburg. The cannons regular, who follow the rule of
Saint Augustine, are also called the “White Cannons” because of the colour of
their habits. Premonstratensians built their monasteries in cities or near busy
places and their contemplative way of life was connected with pastoral ministry.
In the stamp design János Vaszary’s painting Saint Norbert can be seen. The
original is in the baroque church built in honour of Saint John the Baptist in
30 Years of The First Freely Elected Government
Thirty years ago, after a forty-year period of a one-party state – as an achievement of the Hungarian people’s continuous, steadfast perseverance – on 25 March and 8 April 1990 the first free multi-party parliamentary elections were held in the country. The conditions and framework for this were devised at National Round Table Discussions while its legal basis was laid down by Act XXXIV of 1989. At the elections the parties intent on changing the regime had an overwhelming victory.
On the stamps of the miniature sheets, nine of the since then deceased members of the first freely elected government are presented: Dr József Antall, prime minister, Dr István Balsai, minister of justice, Dr Lajos Für, minister of defence, Jenő Gerbovits, minister without a portfolio, Sándor Győriványi, minister of labour, Dr Balázs Horváth, interior minister, Dr Ferenc Mádl, minister without a portfolio, Ferenc József Nagy, m
