Updated, 9:46 p.m.: Searchers said they have called off Friday night s attempts to look for the bodies of two children in the Ohio River after a potential lead turned up nothing.
A possible target identified earlier in the evening was not the bodies of two children police and search volunteers have been looking for, said Tracy Campbell, a spokesperson for North Star International K9 Training Association.
Previous reporting: Searchers have launched a boat into the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg, Indiana where a possible target was identified, according to a search and rescue organization on scene.
Police and others have been searching the river for the bodies of two children who were tragically killed in separate incidents. Searchers are looking for James Hutchinson, age 6, and Nylo Lattimore, age 3.
