Special to the Crier
As far as the sport of swimming and diving go, there is no more competitive league than the Dual County League (DCL). Weston High School s boys swimming and diving team performed well at the DCL championships on Feb. 12, but Wayland, defending Division II state champions, took first and Westford Academy placed second.
Junior Theo Bodet took the title in the 200 yard individual medley. His time of 1:55.31 not only secured first place in the event, but also set a new DCL Meet record.
In the meet’s first event, the 200 yard medley relay, Weston placed second with Evan Hoaglund swimming backstroke, Paul Shen swimming breaststroke, Andrew Chiocca swimming butterfly, and Nyle Linnard anchoring in the freestyle.
Special to the Crier
In the upset of the season, the Weston boys swimming and diving team beat Westford Academy on Feb. 5 with a final score of 91-79.
The Grey Ghosts of Westford were seeded to beat the Tide boys by 100 points. If Weston was going to come close to defeating the unbelievable depth of Westford, it would have to swim flawlessly and Weston delivered.
Weston took the win in nearly every event. In the meet’s first individual event, junior Theo Bodet took first place in the 200 yard freestyle and later in the day won the 500 yard freestyle event.
