New executive head of corporate affairs for Multichoice

Feb 19, 2021 Multichoice South Africa has announced the appointment of Collen Dlamini as the new executive head of corporate affairs. Dlamini has previously worked for Kagiso Media and MTN. “MultiChoice is excited to see how Collen will be able to use his extensive network of key stakeholders in both the private and public sectors in South Africa and beyond, to grow MultiChoice’s existing strategies,” says Nyiko Shiburi, CEO of Multichoice South Africa. A lawyer by training, Dlamini previously served as executive director at Future Managers, a company which uses digital platforms to compliment traditional platforms to enable an enhanced teaching and learning experience for students and lecturers.

Consumers of all 5 of the biggest DStv packages will all be paying more with DStv Premium increasing from R819 to R829. We have endeavoured to keep price adjustments to the minimum and bolster value and rewards, says Nyiko Shiburi, MultiChoice SA CEO. Unlike some other African nations that earlier this year saw a decoder and subscription fee reduction, MultiChoice in South Africa will again increase its prices for 2021 for South Africa s DStv subscribers. The annual price hike that will come into effect from April will see consumers of all 5 of the biggest DStv packages pay more, with DStv BoxOffice movie rentals going up from R35 to R40.

DStv adds Amazon Prime Video to new decoder Subscribe MultiChoice owned satellite service provider, DStv has added streaming service Amazon Prime Video to its new DStv Explora Ultra decoder. DStv customers with a Prime Video membership can now access the entertainment service directly from the decoder. It joins a number of other streaming services and apps which are currently on the Explora Ultra including Showmax, Box Office, Netflix and Joox. “The Explora Ultra is a one-stop-shop for entertainment fans looking to access a catalogue of dynamic entertainment from multiple content providers,” said Nyiko Shiburi, chief executive of MultiChoice South Africa.
