ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal government on Sunday announced that it has decided to challenge Lahore High Court (LHC) order which allowed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif to travel abroad.
Addressing a press conference along with Shahzad Akbar, Fawad Chaudhry argued that letting Shehbaz Sharif to travel abroad will mean a special treatment for him while other prisoners languish in Pakistani jails.
He added that granting permission to Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif will give an impression that influential people could make a mockery of the justice system.

LAHORE: An accountability court has approved appointment of a lawyer as pleader of Nusrat Shehbaz, the wife of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, to regularly appear on her behalf in the trial proceedings of a money laundering reference.
Earlier, the trial court had declared Ms Shehbaz an absconder for avoiding her appearance in the proceedings.
Ms Shehbaz, who at present lives in London, challenged the decision before the Lahore High Court through a special attorney. The high court set aside the trial court’s order as her lawyer accepted a condition of the NAB to appoint a pleader to attend the trial proceedings on her behalf.
The relatives were also the shareholders of said companies, NAB’s prosecutor informed the court. Were these companies established in 2005?
To this, NAB replied that at different points of time after 2005, these companies were established. The prosecutor further added that eight major companies had also been established between 2008 and 2018. The assets of Rs299 million and 26 TTs had been transferred in Nusrat Shehbaz.
At this, Shehbaz s counsel Amjad Pervez argued that this case was a hearing related to Shehbaz Sharif.
Salman Shehbaz received TTs valuing Rs1 billion and Rs60 million, the NAB argued further.

The release of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif was postponed again on Friday as the Lahore High Court did not issue the written judgment of the money-laundering case. PML-N’s Azam Nazeer Tarar, on the occasion, has said that Shahbaz can only be released when it is given. The LHC had approved the bail of the PML-N president in a money laundering case against him on April 14. His remand was extended on April 15 as he could not appear before the bench for the case hearing. LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday granted bail to Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in assets beyond means and money laundering case.
The court directed Sharif to submit two surety bonds of Rs5 million to avail the relief. The division bench comprising Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Asjad Javaid Ghural heard the post-arrest bail petition filed by the PML-N leader.
As the proceedings started, NAB prosecutor Faisal Bukhari advanced his final arguments and opposed Sharif’s bail plea. He submitted that Shahbaz Sharif family inherited Ramzan Sugar Mills only whereas their assets were about Rs16.5 million before 1990. However, their assets reached Rs7 billion in 2018 and there were nine Benamidars who owned many assets, he added.
