SOUTHBRIDGE As a man of science who grew up in a culture of superstition, Bright Eric Ohene hopes to bring back to his native country of Ghana the truth of the COVID-19 vaccine and build a clinic there.
Currently volunteering 60 hours a week at the Harrington HealthCare System’s vaccination site at the Southbridge Community Center, 153 Chestnut St., Ohene sees this as an opportunity to learn and to educate about the safety, necessity and effectiveness of this treatment, while dispelling the myths and misinformation of this medical marvel.
“There’s a lot of vaccine hesitancy where I come from. A lot of us go to church and we are superstitious and we have a lot of doubt about the vaccine,” Ohene said. “I can firsthand tell people I was there and how safe it was. I have taken the vaccine. I got an opportunity as a volunteer. I got vaccinated. But, there are a lot of people out there who will have the opportunity, but are likely not going to take it. So, for me, I ca
