After Chinese users flocked to Clubhouse to engage in uncensored and freewheeling conversation on topics both serious and silly, authorities blocked the app. One room, “Is there a concentration camp in Xinjiang?,” was particularly notable for its topic matter, size, and uniquely empathetic discourse.
