One of the founders of the charity, Donie Ryan, a Nenagh-based addiction counsellor and psychotherapist, has spent 25 years helping addicts. Nearly every year, the crisis has got worse.
âIn pretty much every large town, small town and village, thereâs drugs available in all of them. They all have their own dealers, the network is there,â Ryan says.
âThere is hardly a place around in any of the villages in North Tipp that we havenât heard of that people arenât using drugs and dealing drugs,â he adds. Even young farmers, he says are buying, and using cocaine.

Concerned motorists contacted the police when a car being driven across the Kessock Bridge was swerving about the road.
Officers caught up with Stuart Strang (37), from Elphin, near Lairg, on October 4 2019, and stopped his vehicle.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Strang was parked in a lay-by and vomiting when officers approached him.

A DRIVER from Sutherland took to the wheel after consuming a huge amount of medication, a court heard.
Stuart Strang (37), Elphin, came to police attention after his vehicle swerved about the road as it crossed the Kessock Bridge, to the concern of other motorists.
