New Brunswick man killed in national park head-on | Columbia Valley, East Kootenay

Posted: May 10, 2021 New Brunswick man killed in national park head-on On May 8, at approximately 12 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP and B.C. Emergency Health Services responded to a fatal collision on Highway 93 near Numa Falls in Kootenay National Park. Upon arrival it was determined that an eastbound white Freightliner semi-truck was attempting to pass a slower moving passenger vehicle when it collided head-on with a westbound silver Honda Odyssey minivan. The driver of the minivan, a 65-year old man from New Brunswick, died at the scene. Three female passengers in the minivan, all from New Brunswick and ranging in age from 12-years old to 58-years old, sustained varying degrees of injury requiring medical treatment at hospital.

Posted: January 25, 2021 By Sgt. Darren Kakuno This past week, January 18 through Jan. 24, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 43 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files to which officers responded. Impaired driver removed from road in Radium On Monday, January 18 at about 11:30 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop with a GMC Envoy on Highway 93/95 in Radium Hot Springs. Whiles speaking to the driver, the officer formed suspicion the driver had alcohol in his body. The driver complied with a breath demand and blew two “fails.” As a result, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days.
