Local Democrats cancel outdoor Inauguration Day watch party

Local Democrats have cancelled plans to hold a local Inauguration Day watch party on Jan 20.
Former Nueces County Democratic Chair Joseph Ramirez said several of the group s members originally had hoped to planned to fly to Washington for the historic event, but those plans were cancelled because of COVID-19 concerns.
Instead, it chose to hold a local drive-in style event, but that has, too, been cancelled for safety reasons after Wednesday s U.S. Capitol building riots.
Ramirez said two possible locations for the event already had been chosen, but after yesterday s riots in Washington, the group decided not to move forward with its plan.
